On 8th December we enjoyed the Joanot Martorell Lecture, organised together with Instituto Cervantes London, in which Professor Enric Bou gave a talk on “Barcelona, Europe in Latitude in Longitude”.
Professor Enric Bou, who teaches at Università Ca’ Foscari Venezia, underlined the fact that several Catalan authors often talked about Barcelona comparing it to other European cities, and gave examples from Aribau, Eugeni d’Ors or Carner, among others. He also highlighted how topics like transport and the disappearance of spaces and the way this was changing Barcelona also inspired Catalan authors in literature, music and paintings.
