Last month, the Valencian podcast Beatles Nàked Pòdcast (El Nàked) recorded a live episode at Queen Mary University of London, in an event organised in collaboration with ValenciansUK.
This episode, titled “Nowhere Man”, was recorded in Catalan and used the iconic Beatles song as a springboard to explore the theme of migration —particularly how perspectives can vary depending on one’s place of origin and destination. Podcast hosts Pau Bou and Borja Granell were joined by Jordi Miquel, president of ValenciansUK, and violinist Malena Benavent, both Valencians who have been living in London for several years — as well as Barnaby Bouchard, an Englishman now living in the town of Sueca, near València.
To round off the evening, Malena Benavent gave a wonderful violin performance of Nowhere Man, followed by La Muixeranga, a traditional tune often considered a Valencian anthem.
