Last week, on Thursday 30 and Friday 31 May, the UK and Ireland Catalan Studies Symposium took place at the University of Edinburgh. This meeting is organised by the Institut Ramon Llull and it is a great chance for Catalan tutors at British and Irish universities to meet, share their experiences, and create a network. Our Catalan Language Assistant, Cristòfol Tripiana, was there representing Queen Mary University of London.

Over the two days, lectures and presentations on a wide range of topics related to language teaching, culture, and sociolinguistics were given. To top it all off, Jordi Larios and Xavier Mas Craviotto participated in an event called Catalan Poets in Dialogue, where they gave their views on the status and the future of the Catalan language and literature, followed by readings of their poetry in the original Catalan and in their respective English translations.
