Jordi Puntí’s ‘Messi: Lessons in Style’ at the Queen Mary Catalan Book Club

Last week the latest edition of the Queen Mary Catalan Book Club took place. This time, we discussed Jordi Puntí’s Messi: Lessons in Style (Messi: Exercicis d’estil). We were lucky enough to be joined by the author for this event.

After the readers debated topics such as the style of the book, the topics it covers, and how Jordi Puntí sometimes links football and Messi with other artistic disciplines, the author answered questions focused on several different aspects. He underlined how Messi changed football and the way it is seen, indicating that the former Barça player deserves this recognition for giving the fans many moments of happiness. Other aspects, such as anecdotes about Messi’s personal life, his relationship with the fans and media, and what the future might hold post-retirement were also discussed. This was a very interesting talk; not just for football fans, but also for those who did not know much about Messi before reading the book.
