Iolanda Batallé’s ‘I’ll Do Anything You Want’ in the QM Catalan Book Club

Last month, the first session of the Queen Mary Catalan Book Club of 2025 took place. This time, we discussed Iolanda Batallé’s I’ll Do Anything You Want (Faré tot el que tu vulguis). We were lucky enough to be joined by the author for this event, as well as the translator of the English edition, Martha Tennent.

Former QMUL student Nina Harigai participates in the Seminar on Subtitling in Catalan at the Institut Ramon Llull

The Institut Ramon Llull, the institution that works for the promotion of the Catalan language and culture abroad, recently organised a new edition of the Introductory Seminar to the Audiovisual World and Subtitling (Seminari d’introducció al món audiovisual i la subtitulació), aimed at current and former Catalan language students who have an interest in this field.

Dr Rhiannon McGlade gives the 2024 Joanot Martorell Lecture on Catalan Feminist Comic Art

Last week the 2024 Joanot Martorell Lecture, organised in collaboration with Instituto Cervantes London, took place at Queen Mary. On this occasion, we had the pleasure of being joined by Dr Rhiannon McGlade, former Director of the Centre for Catalan Studies. The title of her lecture was “Irascible Ink: Satire & Subversion in Catalan Feminist Comic Art”.
