Celebrating Sant Jordi and Looking Ahead: Catalan Courses and Events This Autumn

This past April, we celebrated Sant Jordi in Camden for the third year in a row, in what has become a much-anticipated tradition organised by the Delegation of the Government of Catalonia to the United Kingdom and Ireland.

Once again, visitors were treated to books and roses, along with live performances by the Castellers of London, the Colla Bastonera de Londres, and the London Catalan Choir.

Our stall attracted many curious visitors who stopped by to sample some torró and to learn more about the Catalan language courses offered at Queen Mary’s Language Centre (more information about next academic year’s courses, beginning in September, will be available soon.) There was also a great interest in the activities organised by the Centre for Catalan Studies: stay tuned for updates after the summer break! The Queen Mary Catalan Book Club will return in September, and the Catalan Annual Lecture —featuring a particularly interesting topic— is scheduled for late October. More details to follow soon!
