‘En carn i ossos’ by Núria Cadenes launched at QMUL

Last week, Catalan writer Núria Cadenes presented her latest book, En carn i ossos, at the Centre for Catalan Studies at Queen Mary University of London. The event, held in Catalan, was organised in collaboration with ValenciansUK and CatalansUK.

Originally from Barcelona and now based in València for over 25 years, Cadenes introduced En carn i ossos as a collection of twelve powerful, self-contained stories based on real events — plus one that could be real, a detail reflected in the book’s subtitle, Fets reals o gairebé (“Real facts, or almost”). While some episodes draw on distant historical events, others resonate more closely with readers, including accounts of the bombing of Xàtiva’s train station during the Spanish Civil War and the recent floods in València.

Following the presentation, attendees had the opportunity to engage in a lively Q&A with the author, discussing her writing process, her selection of stories, and her work as a writer — both past and future plans.
